Home to the Newest Team in the Northwoods League
11/24/2011
Concordia University Wisconsin and Kapco Metal Stamping of Grafton recently announced their partnership and Baseball Hall of Famer Robin Yount revealed the name and logo of the newest baseball team in the Northwoods Summer Baseball League, the Lakeshore Chinooks.
Kapco Metal Stamping President, Jim Kacmarcik, will be majority owner of the new team in the collegiate summer baseball league, comprised of teams with top players from North America and beyond. Kapco recently made a lead donation to help CUW complete its new baseball stadium, in Mequon, which will seat approximately 2,000 people, allowing the wooden bat league team to use CUW’s facility under the terms of an agreement worked out earlier this year beginning in the summer of 2012.
“Launching a new sports franchise is both exhilarating and challenging but in the end extremely rewarding,” says Kacmarcik. “Baseball fans will be able to see top level college talent from around the country in a family friendly venue along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan,” Kacmarcik added.
Robin Yount is minority owner in the new team, along with announcer Bob Uecker. CUW officials are pleased with the partnership.
“We are extremely excited to be working with Kapco on this project as its mission aligns nicely with ours here at Concordia,” says CUW President, Rev. Dr. Patrick Ferry. “We’ve had a great relationship with Kapco for years and this endeavor further cements that.'
